Following their announcement earlier this year during the 25th Anniversary Event for thePokemonfranchise, the remakes ofPokemon Brilliant DiamondandShining Pearlhave finally launched. The games will likely serve as a nostalgic trip for longtime players, especially those who originally played the titles on the Nintendo DS. While gameplay and story remain largely as players ramember them, developer ILCA updated the game’s visuals while alsoexpanded certain features like the Grand Undergroundand Ramanas Park.
Pokemon Brilliant DiamondandShining Pearlalso bring back the Poketch App, a device that originally took advantage of the Nintendo DS and it’s lower screen. The device was intended to function similarly to a smartwatch, offering the player numerous apps each with their own functionality and purpose.

Thankfully, the Poketch app makes its return inside of thePokemon Brilliant Diamondand Shining Pearlremakes, being given to the player at Jubilife City after speaking to a man standing in the center of town and finding three clowns around town. By pressing R on the controller, the Poketch app can be interacted with. Naturally, there are multiple apps that can be found while playing through the game, so here is the complete list and where to find them.
Digital Watch
As expected, this displays the actual time, based on the players Switch settings. This is included with the Poketch by default.
Calculator
Another standard app on Smart Devices, this is a simple calculator that can be used to perform math equations. However, it also has a secret function that if the player types in the number of a Pokemon in the Pokedex, that creatures cry will be played. This app is with the Poketch by default.
Memo Pad
A blank screen that players can use to write notes or draw pictures using the cursor.
It can be obtained after earning thefirst badge by beating Roark from Oreburgh City. Return to Jubilife City and speak to the President of the Poketch Company again. However, players will find him on the ground floor of the Pokétch Company building on the western side of town.

Pedometer
Another default app of the Poketch is the Pedometer which tracks the amount of steps made in game. This can be cleared by pressing the ‘C’ button.
Pokemon Party List
This app shows the player’s current active party, their current health, as well as if they’re holding any items or not. This is another default Poketch app.
Friendship Checker
As expected, this app shows the friendship level and values for each Pokemon. By tapping and holding over the Pokemon, it displays hearts indicating the level of friendship. Zero means none to low friendship status, 1 is normal friendship, and 2 is high-to-max level friendship. This app is important for someevolutions like turning Riolu into Lucario, which requires a certain level before it triggers.
Players can add this app to their Poketch by speaking to the Aroma Lady at the Eterna City Pokemon Center.

Dowsing Machine
Similar to previous games, the Dowsing Machine can be used to locate hidden items in an area. Players can use it to scan sections where players tap on the app. Upon the first time entering Route 207 from the Cycling Road, either Dawn or Lucas will give this app to the player.
Egg Monitor
AnyPokemon left at a Nurserycan be checked up on through this app as well as whether or not an egg is there. What’s valuable about this app is normally, players would have to return to Solaceon Town to check on them.
The Egg Monitor app can be obtained by talking to the man sitting by the table at the Solaceon Town Pokémon Nursery once te player has left a Pokemon behind at the Nursery.

Pokemon History
For those who want a recap of their Pokemon exploits, the History app shows the last 12 Pokemon that have hatched, evolved, or been captured. Selecting the icon of the Pokemon will play its cry.
This is another app that can be found in Solaceon Town. Simply speak to the Park Ranger to the left of the Pokemon Center.
Counter
Pressing the ‘+’ icon on this app will raise the number displayed on screen, though it will revert back to zero if another app is used. Many players tend to use this app less as a random counter and instead count encounters in chains whenhunting for Pokemon shiniesor the number of egg hatches.
When visiting the Veilstone City Department Store, players should speak to a cashier in front of the escalator on the second floor.
